Lanett woman arrested for theft of property, identity theft

AUBURN, Ala. - On July 25, 2026, the Auburn Police Department, with assistance from the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, arrested India Mychelle Carlisle, 29, of Lanett, Alabama on charges of theft of property first degree and identity theft.
The arrest stems from an investigation into several thefts of business checks in February 2026 in the 1500 block of Professional Pkwy in Auburn. The business reported that someone had stolen several checks and fraudulently deposited them into a personal account. A subsequent investigation revealed Carlisle was the suspect, and warrants were obtained.
Carlisle was taken into custody by the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office before being transported to the Auburn Police Department for questioning. She was then taken to the Lee County Jail where she is being held on a $10,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
